Jamestone Quarry, Haslingden

Went to have a look at this Quarry with PK.
Some parts seemed to be still in operation ( fully equipped portacabins with the power still on ).
Other parts seemed to have not been used for a good while.

Jamestone Quarry is located approximately 3km from Haslingden town centre, immediately east of the A677 Grane Road

Grid Reference: 757 232
Operations: Sandstone extraction
Area: 60 hectares
Operator: Aggregate Industries Ltd.

The site is a longstanding sandstone quarry benefiting from an Interim Development Order (IDO) granted in 1947.
Under the terms of the Planning & Compensation Act 1991 the planning conditions at the site were reviewed and updated.
At this time the operators relinquished extraction rights over some parts of the IDO area
and applied afresh for an extension to the quarry area.
The quarry is developing within the new area and restoration has begun in some of the historic extraction areas.
